Your investment portfolio is a critical factor in the overall financial planning process. Toadvine & Associates works with clients who want to preserve their existing wealth—and not with those who want to chase after hot investments and high returns. Our goal is to help you preserve your assets through the application of prudent, time-tested principles.

Investment Process

The goal of our investment process is to design a portfolio that reflects your comfort level with risk, your longer-term return requirements, and your need for investment-generated income. This includes the following four steps:

Step 1: Organize

  • Profile comfort level with risk
  • Prepare a written analysis of current holdings and improvement opportunities
  • Create financial model to determine rate of return requirements
  • Recommend a strategy based on risk and return parameters as well as cash flow requirements

Step 2: Formalize

  • Prepare back-tested risk and return analysis (Past performance is no guarantee of future results)
  • Prepare an Investment Policy Statement

Step 3: Implement

  • Open an advisory account through Commonwealth Financial Network
  • Oversee transfer of funds from current custodian as necessary
  • Invest funds according to agreed upon Investment Policy

Step 4: Monitor

  • Provide monthly statements for account(s)
  • Provide quarterly performance reports
  • Rebalance accounts periodically as necessary
  • Harvest opportunistic tax-losses as possible
  • Monitor managers for adherence to fiduciary precepts
  • Coordinate distributions and tax withholding as needed
  • Calculate IRA Required Minimum Distributions
  • Create projections to illustrate probability of success for accumulation and/or distribution objectives, as needed
